This Intermediate/Advanced workshop is best for those who are already comfortable working in Lightroom and want to advance beyond the basics, eventually adding Photoshop into the mix.
In the optional Friday night class, we’ll check out system setup (computer, software configuration, external drives) and Lightroom Preferences and View Options to make sure everything’s ready to go.
On Saturday, we’ll dive into into the Lightroom Library, exploring advanced organizational and troubleshooting techniques.
- Simplifying and Synchronizing folders
- Import, Export and Develop presets
- The power of Compare and Survey view
- Collections and Keywords
- Rating, Sorting and Filtering
- Troubleshooting
On Sunday, we’ll devote most of our time to the Develop Module, with forays into Photoshop. Bring at least 5 of your own images.

- New Range Masking with Color or Luminosity
- Editing video in Lightroom
- Black and White conversion
- Photoshop dirty tricks
- Backscatter and object removal
- Merging Catalogs
You’ll need your laptop in good working order and at least one external drive. Also bring power cables, dongles, and chargers, and know your passwords.
This workshop requires a good understanding of your computer’s operating system.
Erin Quigley is an Adobe ACE certified expert specializing in customized workflows and editing strategies using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. She is an award-winning underwater photographer and editor, and creator of GoAskErin.com, which provides one-on-one instruction, custom video tutorials, and Photoshop and Lightroom resources specifically developed for underwater shooters. Erin writes the Imaging Techniques column in Scuba Diving Magazine and teaches imaging workshops worldwide. Erin is a member of the Boston Sea Rovers, Ocean Artists Society, and the Women Divers Hall of Fame.
